As the Team Lead, you will guide and work alongside an experienced group of Physiotherapists, Assistant Practitioners, Cardiac Rehab Nurses, and Assistants, collaborating to provide exceptional care. This is an incredible opportunity to work in cardio-respiratory outpatients, with a diverse caseload that includes gym-based exercise classes, educational sessions, and pre-exercise assessments.
Your role will also encompass facilitating student placements, driving service improvement (including our current Pulmonary Rehab Accreditation), supervising staff, and organizing daily operations.

Main duties of the job
* Patient Rehabilitation: Provide comprehensive rehabilitation for patients with cardiac and/or pulmonary conditions, along with other comorbidities.
* Support Complex Cases: Assist staff in managing caseloads for patients with complex needs, ensuring high-quality care.
* Service Improvement: Contribute to the completion of our Pulmonary Rehab Accreditation, enhancing service delivery.
* Team Operations: Oversee the daily functioning of the team to ensure efficient workflows and patient care.
* Clinical Development: Lead the implementation of evidence-based clinical guidelines and protocols within the specialty.
* Multidisciplinary Collaboration: Act as an integral member of the wider multidisciplinary team.
* Supervision and Appraisals: Provide clinical supervision and appraisals for staff members.

Job responsibilities
KEY DUTIES
* To provide a broad range of expert, complex Therapeutic advice to patients and carers for a wide range of medical conditions to meet varying complex needs.
* To make recommendations to the Cardiac Pulmonary and Respiratory Team and other Health Professionals regarding Therapy needs of patients.
* To ensure effective internal and external 2-way communication with patients, carers and all other Health and Social Care Professionals.
* To demonstrate skills of active listening and respond to verbal and non-verbal cues of your patients or their careers.
* To provide and receive complex information which requires empathy and reassurance.
* To accurately record all assessments and interventions on Therapy records, and in relevant nursing and medical records.
* To lead and contribute to the production and evaluation of resources produced by the department.
* Liaise with Therapists across the region and refer to other health professionals.
* Liaise with colleagues at other Hospitals to ensure a seamless transfer of care.
* To be a member of the multi-disciplinary team and actively participate in M.D.T. meetings and case conferences.
* To provide cover and when necessary, deputise for other team leaders and Therapy Managers.
CLINICAL & PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
* To ensure compliance to all Trust Risk Management, Research Governance and Infection Control Policies and Procedures.

* To provide leadership, training, and mentoring/supervision for less experienced Therapists.
* To lead the planning, organisation, delivery, and evaluation of training for other health care staff.
* To take part in the appraisal process to identify your needs for Continuing Professional Development.
* To actively maintain and develop the specialist skills required of a highly skilled Therapist.
* To disseminate information from training attended as required.
* To participate in the delivery of student training programmes.
* To organise and lead training programmes for colleagues.
LINE MANAGEMENT/SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
* To be responsible for the delivery of care within this Therapy Team.
* To provide leadership representing Therapy on relevant groups.
* To supervise and provide clinical support to less experienced Therapy staff.
* To use clinical expertise and respond to national and local plans.
* To assist/deputise for Therapy Manager including the supervision of junior staff.
* To be responsible for the timely and accurate collection of statistics/records.

Qualifications
Essential
* Degree or equivalent in Therapy profession (PT)
* Post graduate qualification in Therapy Profession (PT)
* Current HCPC registration
* Evidence of continued professional development
* Evidence of Master level Education or equivalent
Desirable
* Relevant management qualification and specialist courses or equivalent
Knowledge and Experience
Essential
* Extensive clinical experience to include complex medical/surgical in this field of rehabilitation
* Experience of working with multi professional groups involved in the care of ill patients
* Operational management, development and supervision of junior staff/students/assistants.
