The Opportunity - Senior Project Engineer (Mechanical):
Join our client s team as a Senior Project Engineer (Mechanical) and play a key role in the success of projects within the water sector. You will lead mechanical engineering functions from pre-contract award to project completion, ensuring that all technical and commercial objectives are met to the highest standards.
Key Accountabilities - Senior Project Engineer (Mechanical):
* Ensure compliance with company processes and health, safety, and environmental systems.
* Review all procurement packages to guarantee quality and efficiency.
* Coordinate services for smooth integration into treatment works while collaborating with various teams.
* Oversee the production of all drawings, including plant and subcontract layouts, to ensure effective coordination.
* Support the Project Quantity Surveyor on commercial matters, ensuring financial integrity throughout the project lifecycle.
* Manage all labour and direct material aspects, conducting regular audits of productivity schemes with the Foreman/Site Agent.
* Keep detailed records of labour and materials used in prefabricated sections of the project.
* Provide essential support to the Site Agent and General Foreman on installation matters.
* Conduct monthly Sub-Contract Project Reviews with the Site Manager to plan, progress, and monitor installations.
* Represent the organisation in both internal and external discussions, ensuring a professional image.
* Collaborate with designers and suppliers to deliver all mechanical requirements across a diverse project portfolio.
* Work closely with the commercial team to procure both off-site and on-site manufactured mechanical requirements, focusing on offsite assembly and modularisation.
* Monitor the progress of activities to ensure timely delivery against agreed programmes and budgets.
* Foster a positive team culture that enhances wellbeing and performance across your projects.
* Conduct factory inspections and quality audits, ensuring high levels of quality and customer satisfaction for all mechanical installations.
Competency Requirements - Senior Project Engineer (Mechanical):
* A valid CSCS card.
* SMSTS qualification; SSSTS minimum.
* A minimum of 5 years experience in a similar role.
* Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organisational skills, with the ability to multitask and meet deadlines.
* Commercially aware with experience in both pre-production and production mechanical project engineering.
* Familiarity with modern methods of construction (MMC), lean construction, agile programme management, and production thinking.
* A programme-focused mindset with the ability to plan and organise resources effectively, both on and off-site.
* First Aid at Work certification.
* Proficient IT skills, including the use of company software packages.
* Excellent communication skills, able to engage with colleagues and clients in a friendly and persuasive manner, adapting style to suit the audience.
Technical/Professional Expertise and Qualifications - Senior Project Engineer (Mechanical):
* Diploma or degree qualification in a relevant field.
* Technical knowledge of civil, electrical, and mechanical water and wastewater operations.
