Job Summary:
We have two roles available, one covering the North and the other covering the South. The positions include a company car and involve remote work, client meetings on-site, and working out of Apogee offices.
The Technical Presales Consultant role is an exciting opportunity to join one of 7 industry leading Professional Services Divisions. This role will focus on Pre Sales support for Apogee’s IT services business (Argon) supporting a portfolio of managed IT solutions and IT project offerings working to interface between Apogee UK based sales force and Argon’s technical delivery teams based in the Isle of Man.
The Technical Presales Consultant will deliver technical consultancy to clients and the internal Sales Force, ensuring industry standard and best practice solutions drawn from the Apogee/Argon portfolio of managed services are presented to customers that both meet their requirements and add value to the customer engagement process, ultimately leading to successful sales outcomes.
The role requires a solid understanding of the IT services market and the typical hardware, software, cloud solutions and technical environments in which they are utilised. This encompasses but is not limited to:
* Desktop operating systems
* Mobile operating systems
* Microsoft 365
* Microsoft Azure
* Windows Server
* Virtualization technologies
* Storage platforms
* Networking & Wifi
* Backup and recovery
* Licensing
Key Responsibilities:
* Liaising with Sales, technical delivery and support teams and Product Managers alike to scope out the most appropriate solution to meet client requirements.
* Ensuring solutions stated in the Statement of Work are industry best practice and in line with client requirements.
* Working closely with Sales Managers to ensure the successful closure of the sales process.
* Keeping abreast of market trends and product & competitor landscapes.
* Managing and building relationships with Apogee/Argon sales community, technical delivery teams and clients.
* Attending meetings onsite or remotely with clients.
* Advising and promoting Apogee/Argon’s portfolio of solutions.
* Assisting with Proof of Concepts, technical surveys and information gathering to support the sales and bidding process.
* Assisting with the quotation process.
* Creating and updating technical documentation to be passed to the delivery team on successful completion of the Sale opportunity.
* Supporting content for proposals and tenders.
* Managing client satisfaction throughout engagement and post engagement cycles.
* Pre-Sales education days displaying and demonstrating anything new or coming soon.
* Assisting with the learning and development of the sales team where technical and solution architecture knowledge is required.
* Working collaboratively as part of the Apogee/Argon group to support busy workloads, periods of leave & to ensure knowledge sharing on new technologies or deployment concepts.
Experience and Skills Required:
* Appropriate technical qualification(s) including vendor certification where applicable.
* Experience of writing proposals, tenders and presentations for an external audience.
* Ability to explain technical concepts concisely and accurately to a non-technical audience.
* Proven experience in a customer-facing role promoting and scoping hardware and software solutions.
* An awareness of the commercial marketplace.
* Thorough understanding of the IT environment to enable customer-facing solution design discussions. Technologies such as:
o Wide variety of operating systems such as Windows desktop, Windows Server, Mac OS, Linux, Chrome OS and mobile operating systems.
o Virtualisation technologies such as Hyper-V, VMWare etc.
o Domains and Trusts, Active Directory and other directory types.
o Group Policy, DNS, DHCP and other common platform management tools.
o Software deployment technologies such as RMM, InTune, SCCM.
* Excellent verbal communicator with good written comprehension capability, specifically within a technical discipline, including hosting and presenting to clients.
* Document your technical work and research to help your colleagues, improve the product, and improve the overall pre-sales support experience.
* Self-motivated, able to work by yourself or as part of a team.
* Willingness to travel when required.
