Job overview
The NICU team at East Kent Hospitals would like to provide an exciting development opportunity for band 5 nurses joining the team. This development post will enable the successful candidate to complete a program of learning and development through the first 2 years, and once competencies are completed, the post is converted to a band 6 position. If you are a Registered Children’s, Adult Nurse or a Registered Midwife who wants to specialize in the care of sick preterm babies and their families, then why not join us at our family friendly Level 3 Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at The William Harvey Hospital at Ashford in Kent? Our Unit provides care for babies and families from the local community and has 7 Intensive Care Cots, 5 High Dependency Cots and 12 Special Care Cots.
Main duties of the job
East Kent Hospitals University Foundation Trust has recently invested in Neonatal Staffing to enable us to move towards achieving BAPM standards of nurse: baby ratios and ratios of Qualified in Speciality nurses. This has resulted in additional posts being available on both sites and the introduction of nursery nurses to the unit.
Our Practice Educator and Clinical Skills Facilitator will support you with a bespoke induction package (working alongside Preceptorship if appropriate). We have a designated Neonatal Clinical Technologist who assists the Practice Education team with training.
