An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, self-motivated Speech and Language Therapist to join our SLT teams.
The post is advertised at band 5. Subject to completion of the probation period and specific objectives, the post will develop to a band 6.
Integrated into multi-disciplinary teams, we provide excellent quality of care for our patients. Alongside specialist clinical teams, you will be joining a team of 18 Speech and Language Therapists and SLTAs.

This post comprises rotations and specialist competencies in:
- Acute general medicine and elderly care (Barnet Hospital)
- Acute stroke (Barnet Hospital)
- Respiratory, surgical and critical care (Barnet Hospital)
- Voice and Head & neck cancer (Barnet Hospital, 1 weekly session Chase Farm Hospital)
- Specialist neurological rehabilitation (Edgware Hospital)
These rotational posts are regularly reviewed.
The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic individual, who is keen to develop specialist clinical knowledge. They should have excellent organisational and clinical skills to provide a high quality of care and facilitate safe discharges. There are opportunities to participate in Quality Improvement Projects and setting new directions for our service.
The Therapy Department holds a high profile within the Trust and is committed to staff and service development. We offer a range of in-service and external training to suit the needs of the service and individual’s learning objectives. You will be encouraged to develop your clinical, teaching and managerial skills within Trust values and CPD guidelines.
This post involves supporting the SLT team to manage a busy caseload. Upon completion of development competencies, the post will participate in the Band 6 rotation to gain competencies across the areas of: elderly care and general medicine; respiratory and surgical wards, including critical care; voice, head and neck cancer service; acute stroke and specialist neurological rehabilitation. The SLT team also work with the Rapid Response Team.
Communication skills and proven experience of MDT working and prioritisation are essential for this role. We provide inpatient and outpatient FEES and video fluoroscopy services and there will be opportunities for this post to participate in these services.
The post holder will be expected to contribute to the regular teaching and training programme throughout the Trust.
