In this role, you'll provide crucial support to students as they build essential speech and language skills. About the Role This position offers a unique opportunity to make a significant difference for students with special needs who face challenges in communication. As a Speech and Language Teaching Assistant, you'll work directly with students, helping them develop communication skills that enhance their confidence and engagement in the classroom. Key Responsibilities Provide tailored support to students with diverse speech and language needs, working one-on-one and in small groups. Assist in implementing specialized learning strategies and speech therapy exercises designed by speech and language therapists and SEN coordinators. Support students in improving communication skills, including listening, understanding, speaking, and social interaction. Collaborate closely with teachers, SEN staff, and other professionals to implement individual education plans (IEPs) and monitor student progress. Create an inclusive, positive environment that encourages students to engage and succeed academically and socially. Ideal Candidate Profile Experience working with children and young people, particularly those with speech and language needs or non-verbal challenges. A passion for supporting students in overcoming communication barriers. Excellent communication skills, patience, and a compassionate approach to working with pupils facing speech and language difficulties. Ability to collaborate effectively with teachers and other professionals to provide cohesive support.
