We are looking for someone who’s ambitious, a team player, flexible and proactive, with an eye for detail and confident interpreting and explaining LGPS regulations to a variety of audiences. This is an exciting opportunity to help drive the Pension Fund forward.
This post will be responsible for supporting the day-to-day service provided to members of the Pension Fund. They will support the Pensions Benefits Team Leader to manage team workloads, staff training and checking and authorising benefit payments. They will also be responsible for more complex cases like death benefits and transfers.
As a key member of the team, actively contribute to the smooth running of the service, to coach and develop colleagues to help raise standards, productivity and flexibility. With responsibility for specific finance processes, Senior Officers support delivery of services in a consistent, standardised and efficient manner.
Enfield Council is a modern and rapidly progressing council, and this post is a fantastic opportunity for those who have experience in the LGPS field to use those skills to help promote the benefits of membership of the Local Government Pension Scheme.
Key Responsibilities
1: Responsible for checking work completed by team members and authorising payments.
2: Responsible for delivering and leading to a high standard, activities outlined in the LGPS Regulations as an Administration Authority for the Enfield Pension Fund. Duties include but are not limited to the calculation of pension benefits in accordance with LGPS regulations and Council policy, processing interfund adjustments and transfers in and out of the scheme, updating member records, deal with complex queries from members of the scheme and leading on complex cases like death grants and divorce sharing orders.
3: Acquire an in-depth knowledge of the Altair pension system, assisting with the roll out of new processes due to changes in legislation or system development.
4: Manage the allocation of work and system workflows to the team. Monitor performance of the team ensuring that objectives are met, and performance is measured against KPI’s and the Pension Regulators Code of Practice, regularly reporting back performance to the Team Leader and Pension Manager identifying where improvements can be made.
