Summary
A Level 3 Assistant Accountancy Apprentice is required. You will largely be working on bookkeeping, VAT and accounts preparation projects but will also assist in some of the day-to-day functions that are essential to keeping the office running smoothly. The successful candidate will assist in the preparation of company accounts preparation.
Annual wage £14,000 a year
Salary £14,000-£18,000 depending on experience
Training course: Assistant Accountant (Level 3)
Hours: Monday - Friday, 8.30am - 5.00pm (breaks to be confirmed)
37 hours a week

Work: As an apprentice, you'll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You'll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.
What you'll do at work
As an Assistant Accountant Bookkeeper, your duties will include but are not limited to:
1. Bookkeeping - maintenance of client records on QuickBooks and TaxCalc, including sales and purchase invoice controls, receipts and payment analysis, bank reconciliations and VAT reconciliations
2. Assist in the preparation of company accounts and maintenance of client files
3. VAT - preparation of quarterly VAT returns for small size companies under the supervision of seniors
4. Payroll preparation of monthly payroll
5. Liaise with clients to ensure record delivery and account information in a timely manner
6. General administration, reception, telephone answering, document scanning, client servicing, and support to Accountants
7. Complete all Tax Assist Academy Bookkeeping courses

Course contents
1. Assist with the investigation and response to financial information queries.
2. Record and analyse financial data using the organisation's standard tools and processes.
3. Apply double entry bookkeeping and accounting standards to process financial documents, generate financial statements and report financial information to users of accounts.
4. Assist with production of accurate financial information for the preparation of accounts.
5. Reconcile financial data, such as preparation of reconciliations.
6. Investigate, resolve or escalate transactional queries and errors within their remit as appropriate.
7. Develop and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders.
8. Communicate financial information in a way that non-finance stakeholders can interpret and understand.
9. Utilise digital skills to present key financial information using finance and accounting software and applications.
10. Use software packages to assist with basic accounting tasks in line with cyber and data security requirements.
Your training plan
1. The Apprentice will study for the Level 3 Assistant Accountant Apprenticeship Standard, which will earn an AAT Level 3 Diploma in Accounting
2. Training takes place via our online learning portal with live classroom learning with our qualified tutor
3. This will typically be 1 day a week

After this apprenticeship
1. After successfully achieving the AAT Level 3 qualification, the candidate will be considered for the Level 4 AAT Apprenticeship training and/or the possible opportunity to progress to a more senior level with the firm and a career within accountancy
