DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION
The Technology department is responsible for establishing, monitoring, and maintaining information technology systems and services to enable business users to carry out their roles efficiently, productively, and securely. The department must stay at the forefront of technology change to meet multiple business requirements, provide secure IT infrastructure, and proactively support strategic growth opportunities.
JOB PURPOSE
The CPP Programme requires an experienced Project Manager who has worked within project delivery teams, completing varied project management activities in support of programme and project delivery. The role holder will have an appreciation and understanding of OTT media applications and services. They will have extensive hands-on experience in articulating the bigger picture, analysing, and specifying the end-to-end requirements, and helping to shape solutions by working with all relevant stakeholders including Product, Content, Commercial, Architecture, UX/Design, Technical Leads, and other Project Managers.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
* Lead the planning, execution, monitoring, and closure of multiple projects related to CPP programme, ensuring they are completed on time, within scope, and within budget.
* Work closely with key stakeholders across the organisation to align project outcomes with business needs.
* Manage project risks, issues, and dependencies, ensuring timely mitigation and resolution/escalation to avoid disruptions to project outcomes.
* Develop detailed project plans, schedules, and resource allocation strategies to optimise project performance.
* Ensure effective communication and reporting with stakeholders at all levels, including progress updates, milestone achievements, Steering meetings and budget tracking.
* Work with internal and external stakeholders and subject matter experts to capture and document project requirements and define project scope.
* Coordinate with third-party vendors, contractors, and service providers to ensure the seamless integration of technology solutions and/or processes into project products.
* Lead the implementation of agile or waterfall methodologies, depending on project requirements, to drive efficient project delivery.
* Ensure all projects comply with internal governance processes, relevant regulatory and compliance standards related to public service broadcasting and data protection.
* Foster a culture of continuous improvement by implementing lessons learned and best practices across the technology team.
* Report to the Programme Manager and provide regular progress updates against tasks.
* Manage the production of business case and business benefits documents.
* Provide leadership, training, coaching, and guidance to junior staff.
ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE & SKILLS
* Proven experience as a Project Manager, ideally within a technology environment in broadcasting, media, or a similar industry.
* Strong understanding of project management methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, Prince2) and tools (e.g., JIRA, MS Project, Monday.com).
* Experience managing technical projects such as digital transformation, data management, cloud infrastructure, or broadcast systems.
* Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate and negotiate effectively across diverse teams.
* Experience in budget management and financial forecasting for technology projects.
* Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
* Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to anticipate issues and devise effective solutions.
* Relevant qualifications in project management (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2 certification) are preferred.
* Highly organised and analytical with excellent attention to detail.
* A self-starter with the ability to prioritise and plan own workload, managing deadlines and other constraints.
* Proven team player who enjoys working with and supporting colleagues.
DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE & SKILLS
* Solid understanding of the challenges and opportunities in public service broadcasting, including regulatory frameworks.
* Familiarity with Broadcast Media Technologies and Operational processes, with particular focus on Media supply chain and Scheduling systems.
* Knowledge of VOD/Broadcast domain.
* Proven experience of RFP’s, RFI submissions, and related lifecycle activities.
* Passion for media and broadcasting with a keen interest in how technology can transform content delivery.
* Adaptability and flexibility in managing change and shifting priorities.
Hybrid working
From September 2023, C4 has operated a 60/40 working pattern, equating to three office days per week. All our offices are open five days a week.
Secondment Policy
This role is advertised as a secondment meaning that if successful you would move into this role for a defined time period. If you are currently a permanent employee, you will receive an acting-up allowance for the duration of your secondment, which will be the difference between your current basic salary and the salary of the role you are seconded into, or will be calculated as per our Acting-Up Policy. Salary: Basic salary starting at £65,625 dependant on experience.
