Work
As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.
What you’ll do at work
* Bank & credit card reconciliation
* Supplier statement reconciliation
* Management of finance inbox and associated tasks
* Supporting receipt of purchase invoices via Simpro
* Posting supplier invoices
* Importing and posting of sales invoices onto Xero
* Supporting with answering the phone as and when needed
* Assisting with preparation and posting of month end journals (accruals, prepayments, salary/PAYE etc)
* Liaising with HMRC as and when is required
* Supporting with stock control management
* Responsible for receipt of purchase orders and associated invoicing for Technology division
* Supporting financial controller with ad-hoc tasks and projects
* Supporting financial controller with weekly and monthly reporting Minimum of 6 hours per week spent on apprenticeship work and training.

* Assist with the investigation and response to financial information queries.
* Record and analyse financial data using the organisation’s standard tools and processes.
* Apply double entry bookkeeping and accounting standards to process financial documents, generate financial statements and report financial information to users of accounts.
* Assist with production of accurate financial information for the preparation of accounts.
* Reconcile financial data, such as, preparation of reconciliations or review of reconciliations.
* Investigate, resolve or escalate transactional queries and errors within their remit as appropriate.
* Develop and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders.
* Communicate financial information in a way that non-finance stakeholders can interpret and understand.
* Utilise digital skills to present key financial information using finance and accounting software and applications.
* Use software packages to assist with basic accounting tasks in line with cyber and data security requirements, using data securely and safely, including backing up data.
* Communicate using varying approaches and different media methods with an appreciation of the risks and benefits to the business of social media and other digital applications.

Your training plan
Working towards your Level 3 AAT Qualification you’ll attend monthly online 1-2-1 meetings (online via teams every month – NO classroom OR college!) with your Tutor to learn Modules including data & cyber security, financial accounting & reporting, indirect tax & reconciliatons, fraud & internal controls, and more! You will be given a minimum of 3 hours per week to complete any apprenticeship work (assignments, research, and projects) and will receive at least another 3 hours of training from your employer. All apprenticeship work and training is completed in the workplace, during working hours.
The Level 3 AAT includes a Mandatory Qualification ‘Diploma in Accounting’ made up of 4 modules/exams including Business Awareness, Financial Accounting: Preparing Financial Statements, Management Accounting Techniques, Tax Processes for Businesses.
