Job overview
We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Occupational Therapist to join our team.
This role involves overseeing the EHC assessment provision in the team, completing assessments, providing reports for statutory assessments, and ensuring quality assurance of reports while working collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team.
The post holder will provide a high-quality occupational therapy service to children up to 18 years of age with difficulties in play, self-care, and school occupations due to various conditions.
Main duties of the job
1. Provide Education, Health and Care plan assessments, high-quality reports, and reviews within statutory timeframes.
2. Oversee the EHC assessment provision within the service and ensure reports meet the Special Educational Needs Code of Practice.
3. Maintain specialist knowledge of the EHC process and legislation.
4. Carry out assessments and evaluate the child’s occupational performance.
5. Manage a complex clinical caseload, using evidence-based practice.
Person specification
Qualifications
* Diploma or degree in Occupational Therapy
* Postgraduate qualifications in relevant areas
Professional Registration
* Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council
* Member of the specialist section: children and young people
Training
* Evidence of Continuing Professional Development
* Evidence of attendance at training in assessment and treatment of children with functional needs
Specific Skills
* Ability to independently manage a complex caseload.
* Excellent written and oral communication skills.
* Knowledge of child development and varying conditions.
Experience
* Previous experience in community/NHS Paediatric practice.
* Experience in the assessment and provision of Education, Health and Care reports.
* Experience in leading within a multi-professional team.
Information Technology
* Efficient computer user for all used programmes.
