Main duties of the job
A Whole Time, Part time or Job Share Consultant Haematologist. This is a locum post with immediate effect and the successful applicant will join 6 other consultants.
The Trust provides Haematology care to a population of approximately 800,000, including high intensity chemotherapy services. Outpatient chemotherapy can be delivered in Scarborough, but all inpatient care is on the York site. We are a non-comprehensive Haemophilia centre.
The role is predominantly based in York Hospital with a day a week on the Scarborough site. An interest in bleeding disorders would be desirable but is not essential. Exact duties are open to negotiation depending on the interests of the successful applicant. The post holder will contribute to clinical and laboratory work and be part of a one in seven non-resident on call rota.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Registered and hold a license to practise with the General Medical Council
* Entry on the GMC Specialist Register in Haematology
* An appropriate higher medical qualification i.e., MRCPath or equivalent and MRCP
* CCT (proposed CCT date must be within 6 months of interview) CESR or (within 6 months of completing a training programme recognised for the award of CCT or equivalent)
* NHS experience
Clinical Practice/ Competence
* Ability to demonstrate clinical experience and skill in Haematology
* Demonstrates a sound knowledge of clinical governance practice
* Experience of working in or setting up a clinical decision unit service
Mentoring and Teaching
* Experience of teaching undergraduate and post graduate trainees
* Experience of undertaking audits and presenting their findings
* Publications in peer review journals
Leadership
* Ability to contribute to change management agenda and take a leading role
* Contributes to improving patient's experience
