This opportunity sits within the Environmental Test Engineering Team in the Space Imaging business unit.
This involves performing a range of mechanical tests, including vibration, mechanical shock, structural analysis, packaging assessment and climatic tests including thermal, humidity, altitude and salt spray.
These tests form part of design proving, qualification approval or may be part of the routine testing of our products.
Position Summary and Responsibilities: Environmental Test Engineer
* Uphold Engineering Standards: Guarantee compliance with processes and best practices to achieve successful engineering governance and gate reviews.
* Adhere to Standards: Work according to relevant standards (e.g., MIL-STD, DEF-STD, BS-EN) and within the defined specifications of environmental tests.
* Support Design and Manufacture: Assist in the design and manufacture of jigs for mechanical and thermal testing.
* Data Management: Record, analyse, report, and present test data effectively.
* Review and Align Test Plans: Ensure test plans meet standards and verify our capability to perform the testing.
* Timely Returns: Assist in ensuring the timely return of test items and supporting equipment to customers.
* Maintain Equipment: Collaborate with the team to ensure all equipment and test items are maintained and calibrated in a compliant and safe environment.
* Ensure Throughput: Be responsible and accountable for maintaining the throughput of work to ensure on-time and quality testing.
* Customer Liaison: Liaise with internal and external customers effectively.
Skills, Experience & Qualifications: Environmental Test Engineer
* Educational Background: Hold a relevant degree in engineering or science, or have equivalent experience.
* Technical Expertise: Possess a solid understanding of product testing in laboratory or industrial settings.
* Project Experience: Skilled in reviewing and meeting technical and project requirements.
* Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
* Positive Attitude: Maintain a "can do" outlook, capable of challenging and managing stakeholder expectations.
* Multi-tasking Ability: Efficiently handle multiple assignments, delivering high-quality results with energy and commitment.
