Our client is a major in-house construction and responsive repairs contractor based in Merseyside. We’re looking for a driven and passionate Health, Safety & Environmental Manager to lead their HS&E function.
This is a pivotal role where you will directly influence and embed a proactive, positive health, safety and environmental culture across the business. This is an opportunity to make a lasting difference in an organisation that values high standards and continuous improvement.
About the Role
As HS&E Manager, you’ll be responsible for:
* Leading the development and implementation of HS&E strategies, policies and procedures.
* Ensuring full compliance with all Health, Safety & Environmental legislation, including Construction (Design & Management) Regulations (CDM).
* Managing ISO certifications (14001, 45001, and 9001), audits, and external regulatory body interactions (e.g. HSE, Fire Authorities).
* Providing expert technical advice to the senior leadership team and operational managers, driving health and safety performance across construction and maintenance services.
* Developing and supporting your HS&E team (Business Partner, Advisor and possibly Apprentice).
* Promoting a behavioural safety culture across our construction sites, repairs service, and office environments.
* Leading training and awareness sessions, supporting investigations, and delivering robust audit frameworks and reporting systems.
Essential Experience & Knowledge:
* Proven background in construction and CDM health and safety management.
* Experience in leading teams within a fast-paced, multi-site environment.
* In-depth knowledge of relevant HS&E legislation and regulations.
* Demonstrable success managing ISO certification processes and compliance.
* Strong stakeholder engagement, influencing and communication skills.
* Ability to lead and embed culture change around safety and compliance.
Qualifications (Essential/Desirable):
* Chartered membership of IOSH (or working towards) – Desirable
