The role of Laboratory Equipment Engineer/Scientific Equipment Coordinator:
1. Circa 75% of your time will be dedicated to ensuring prompt, flexible, customer-focused specialist engineering and equipment triage support for a range of laboratory equipment to include Centrifuges, HPLC, Microscopes, Balances, Pipettes, Cold Storage whilst maintaining compliance with statutory, regulatory and standards.
2. Circa 25% of your time will be spent liaising with external vendors such as engineers and completing all relevant service reports.
3. Diagnose faults on complex equipment and systems to produce a satisfactory solution.
4. Create, manage and review supporting documentation e.g., service reports.
5. Support users in the preparation/design of operating procedures, SOPs, Change Control and the deviation, manuals, and drawings.
6. Escort onsite visiting vendors to appropriate work areas within laboratories and comply with client site induction processes.
7. Carry out regular asset sweeps (and potential for re-tagging of equipment).
8. Monitor the performance of the scientific equipment and systems using Key Performance Indicators to instigate improvements and influence changes.
9. This role involves documentation both with the visiting engineers and logging information on the SAP system as you will be working in a GXP & ISO environment with regulated pharmaceutical equipment.
10. Manage the availability of essential spares to support the range of equipment and systems used within the R&D facilities in a cost-effective manner.
11. Support contract management in the set-up, renewal, and budget of contracts.
12. Act as an ambassador, ensuring a first-class service is always delivered.
The requirements of the Laboratory Equipment Engineer/Scientific Equipment Coordinator:
1. Circa 2 years of experience either as a site-based or Field Service Engineer with experience servicing laboratory equipment such as Centrifuges, HPLC, Autoclaves, Balances, Water Baths, Fridges, Microscopes, Freezers, Laboratory Ovens or similar laboratory equipment.
2. You could also be a hands-on Chemist/Scientist/Analyst/Technician with circa 2 years or more experience performing first line fixes and triaging for the above equipment with the motivation to transition into an engineering role.
3. Hold a relevant engineering or scientific qualification (ONC, HNC, NVQ, City & Guilds BSc, MSc etc) or be qualified by experience.
4. GMP Regulatory knowledge and experience.
5. Very strong analytical skills with proven ability to break down and solve complex problems in a logical and structured approach.
6. PC literate in Microsoft packages (Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc).
7. Strong relationship management and excellent communication skills/influencing skills.
8. Experience coordinating and scheduling workload to achieve results.
9. Ability to work with your own initiative but team-oriented and able to work with minimal supervision.
10. Robust and assertive attitude towards achieving results and motivating team members.
