What you'll be doing
The role of Support Engineer sits within Customer Service - Planning, reporting to the Planning Manager.
As Support Engineer, you'll deliver engineering support services for the PSMC control room. You'll co-ordinate all system users and network outages on the 132kV and 33kV networks and will also provide support to the 132kV Senior Control engineer and wider control room in Planned and Fault situations.
You'll prepare Outage information to assist with key decision making and network access within the Control Room.
In addition this role requires preparing the Control Room for the future DSO requirements including updating processes and strategies.
What you'll bring
* Reviewing and investigating system performance following major EHV incidents and faults.
* Act as Control Person (Safety) for 132kV Network
* Manage, co-ordinate or participate in multi-discipline projects, tasks or areas of activity as required by business needs.
* Establish and maintain excellent relationships with Major Customers and other DNO's and National Grid (ESO and NGET) for system outages.
* Give advice and support as required on technical matters relating to the network.
* Prepare and issue daily, weekly, and monthly reports.
* Responsible for the co-ordination of network outages impacting the network from two years ahead to day ahead timescales.
* Prepare 132kV and 33kV network studies and contingency plans for system outages and post-fault running arrangements.
* Provide support to the control room for network studies and running arrangements.
* Represent the Control Room on network development forums (e.g. SRG, DSRG).
* Ensure all work and projects are completed to Company Safety, Environmental and Quality policies, procedures, and legislation.
* Conduct safety audits/site monitors as required.
* Support and maintain systems within the control room (e.g. Lightning monitor, ISPA, PI).
* Maintain strategic process documents relating to Safety Control and the Control Room.
