Tata Steel Colors at Shotton Works is looking for a Mechanical Craftsperson to join our Manufacturing Engineering team. If you thrive in a hands-on environment and want to be part of a world-class operation, this role is your opportunity.
What you’ll do
As a Mechanical Craftsperson, you’ll play a key role in maintaining the mechanical systems that keep our process lines and auxiliary plant running at peak performance. You’ll be responsible for ensuring all maintenance activities align with our strict safety and environmental procedures while proactively identifying opportunities for improvement.
Your responsibilities will include:
Performing mechanical maintenance tasks on process lines and auxiliary equipment.
Ensuring all work complies with safety standards, including conducting risk assessments and using tools like IMS and RMS systems.
Supporting continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency.
Assisting with shutdown planning and execution, ensuring minimal downtime.
Training and mentoring apprentices to develop the next generation of talent.
This is a hands-on role where your skills and expertise will make a tangible impact on our operations.
What You’ll Need to Succeed
We’re looking for a time-served mechanical craftsperson who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Essential Requirements:
Relevant experience in a steel or construction-related industry.
Strong understanding of safety and environmental procedures.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
The ability to plan and execute tasks safely, with a proactive approach to risk management.
Desirable Skills and Experience:
Experience using systems like SAP for maintenance planning and feedback, or a willingness to learn with training provided.
Familiarity with continuous improvement practices.
A passion for developing others, with experience mentoring or training apprentices.
