We have one full-time Assistant Psychology post at Band 4 level.
The assistant psychology roles play a key part in supporting the psychology provision across the medium and low secure forensic services.
The role will involve the following:
· To assist practitioner psychologists in the delivery of a specialist applied psychology service in the low secure setting on Chaffinch Ward.
· To provide clinical work as required by the service, under the direct guidance, close clinical and professional supervision of a practitioner psychologist.
Clinical work may include engagement, assessment (including risk assessment), formulation and direct intervention with forensic mental health service users across medium and low security.
· The delivery of psychoeducational group programmes.
· To assist in clinically related administration, conduct of audits, collection of statistics, development of audit and/or research projects, teaching and project work.
· To work following clinical guidelines and the policies and procedures of the service, while closely supervised and regularly seeking help from clinical/professional supervisor or manager.
KR 1 Clinical and Client Care
· To provide psychological assessments for clients in the medium and low secure forensic services under the close supervision of a practitioner psychologist includingPsychometric Assessments, Risk Assessments, Behavioural Assessments, Needs Assessments.
· To provide protocol based individual psychological interventions for clients in the medium and low secure forensic services.
· To arrange, schedule and provide protocol based group psychological interventions for clients in the medium and low secure forensic services.
· To assist the psychologists in the development of individual or group clinical materials or training materials,

The post-holder will support and enhance the professional psychological care of clients within the forensic medium and low secure services at the Bethlem Royal Hospital. He/she will assist practitioner psychologists in the delivery of a specialist applied psychology service, including the provision of clinical work as required by the service, under the direct guidance, close clinical and professional supervision of a practitioner psychologist. Clinical work is likely to involve carrying out psychological assessments, including risk assessments, and circumscribed individual interventions, under the supervision of a qualified professional psychologist. The post-holder will also support and facilitate the provision of psychoeducational groups, assist in clinically related administration, conduct of audits, collection of statistics, development of audit and/or research projects, teaching and project work.
More generally, the post-holder will assist the psychologists and other members of the multidisciplinary team in developing a therapeutic environment for patients in the forensic medium and low secure services. He/she will work following clinical guidelines and the policies and procedures of the service, according to a plan agreed with a qualified psychologist and within the overall framework of the team's policies and procedures.
