The Growth Company’s (GC) Employment team have an exciting opportunity for an Employment and Training Advisor who will engage with the community of Salford who require employability support due to low income, zero hour contracts, the desire to upskill etc, whether this be looking for alternative employment or looking at new opportunities to suit the customer needs.
We help to make a lasting difference to the lives of people throughout the North of England and beyond, by supporting individuals to gain meaningful employment.
Our highly skilled advisers and keyworkers work with a range of individuals; from people who have found themselves recently out of work, to those with complex barriers such as physical disabilities, mental ill-health and debt.
Key Responsibilities:
Raise awareness of the service through targeted marketing and outreach activities to increase the number of referrals.
Ability to work to targets, attracting new residents to the service, ensuring quality and appropriate referrals.
Accurately record all residents’ details in internal systems, ensuring compliant contractual paperwork and updated records.
Develop and implement a range of pathways into employment including liaising with training partners, employers, key internal and external stakeholders.
Liaise with employers and other organisations to source placement opportunities that may lead to sustainable employment for Service users.
Attend and organize local networking events, recruitment fairs, conferences to promote benefits of the programme.
Conduct professional face to face and telephone pre-screening interviews with customers, depending on employers’ requirements.
Develop clear and informative candidates resumes, with the support of the candidate, to speculatively promote the individual to the employer.
Ability to travel across Salford and Greater Manchester as required and work flexibly according to business and customer’s needs.
Provide robust Information, Advice and Guidance with a focus on looking for alternative employment.
About you:
Good knowledge of welfare to work and the customer base.
Excellent knowledge of the local labour market, methods of recruitment and growth industries.
Knowledge of funded skills provisions including Adult Education Budget (AEB).
Understanding of ESOL requirements and barriers/ challenges.
A warm, approachable style to delivery is required in order to build relationships and rapport.
To always act as an ambassador of The Growth Company and Salford Council.
Skills Required:
Ability to provide robust IAG with a focus on Customers who are looking to upskill or alternative employment (IAG qualification desirable).
Good Caseload management.
Must have excellent interpersonal and promotional skills, telephone manner, good organisational skills, and excellent IT skills.
Able to work to challenging targets and key performance indicators.
Ability to obtain information and record information accurately with high level of attention to detail.
Well-developed IT skills, including and understanding of computerised management information systems, spreadsheet, diary management and email.
Work with a range of agencies to promote and disseminate information to generate referrals.
Organising and coordination of a range of promotional events and open days.
