Catastrophic Injury Claims Specialist Fantastic opportunity to be a key role model in a growing team Responsible for our most complex and high value injury claims This is a hybrid role with 80% homeworking options and 20% in Stratford-upon-Avon plus ad hoc travel to regional offices About the roleThis is an exciting time to join NFU Mutual as a Large Loss Claims Specialist, where you will play a key role in handling our most complex and high-value injury claims, ranging from £250K to £2m across both Motor and Liability. This is more than just a technical role—you will be a leader within the team, acting as a role model and mentor to colleagues while shaping the future of our large loss claims handling. You’ll be trusted to manage an interesting and varied large loss portfolio, focusing on achieving KPIs, controlling costs, protecting our reputation, and ensuring the best possible outcomes for our customers. In addition to handling claims, you will take an active role in supporting our regional and Large Corporate claims teams, assisting with technical referrals, training, and coaching, helping to develop technical excellence across the business. Collaboration is key to this role. You will build and maintain effective relationships with our Legal Panel, Actuarial, and Underwriting teams, as well as with Agents across the UK-wide NFU Mutual Agency network. You will also be a key decision-maker, offering expert guidance on complaints, breaches, Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS) Appeals, County Court Judgements, and other technical referrals. This role is based in our Tiddington Head Office, just outside Stratford-Upon-Avon. About youAs a technical specialist in large loss claims handling, you bring a strong customer-focused mindset and a desire to ensure the best possible outcomes for stakeholders. You have a proven track record of handling high-value large loss injury claims within general insurance from end to end and a strong technical knowledge that, coupled with your coaching and mentoring skills, allows you to guide and support your colleagues. To succeed in this role, you must also have: The ability to act as a lead and role model within the team, demonstrating experience in coaching, and mentoring others, particularly supporting teams with referrals and development. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong judgement and decision-making abilities. A highly organised approach to portfolio management. Experience in handling claims from multi-jurisdictions: Scotland, Northern Ireland, Republic of Ireland, Channel Islands; or experience of handling PL non-injury and Animals Act claims would be beneficial but is not essential.
