The LISS DTP Postgraduate Studentship Competition for October 2025 entry is now open! Apply now for Master’s/PhD ESRC funding in social sciences subjects for 2025-26 at one of our 3 partner institutions: Kings College London, Queen Mary University London, and Imperial College London.
The Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) funded London Interdisciplinary Social Science Doctoral Training Partnership (LISS DTP), led by King’s College London, in partnership with Imperial College London and Queen Mary University of London, enables social science research students to join and develop a research community that springs from the interface between the social science disciplines with health and medicine, the natural and physical sciences, engineering, and the arts and humanities.
Through the DTP, students can work with some of the world’s leading experts in areas that include any of LISS DTP’s 6 Thematic Research Areas covering a range of social science disciplines:
1. RA1, Global Health Innovation
2. RA2, Business Analytics, Management, and Applied Economics
3. RA3, Language, Culture, and Education
4. RA4, Environment and Sustainability
5. RA5, Global Order and Security
6. RA6, Public Policy and Governance
The DTP particularly welcomes project proposals utilising advanced data skills and quantitative methods and interdisciplinary approaches and has dedicated awards to offer in these areas.
Research in practice is a core component of doctoral experience for all our students. Working together with non-academic partners is encouraged, and our studentship funding includes funding for a 3-month placement.
We welcome applications from UK and International students (including EU) and our goal is to recruit outstanding and diverse candidates across the full range of studentships. We offer ringfenced studentships for home students from underrepresented backgrounds, disabled students, and students with caring responsibilities. More information on the eligibility requirements is available on the LISS DTP website.
4.5-year (Master’s + PhD) and 3.5-year (PhD only) studentships are available, for both full-time and part-time study, offering a tax-free stipend of approx. £21,237 p/a + UKRI ‘home’-level tuition fees.
Apply by 24th January 2025, 5.00pm UK time.
