The Position
We are currently seeking qualified engineering design technicians to help with detailed engineering calculations on existing aerial pole lines throughout Ontario and Canada. The successful candidate will support the Professional Engineer with completing non-linear pole line analysis using various industry software. The individual will coordinate with Project Coordinators, Managers and Design staff to advance projects and solve design challenges.
Responsibilities
* Detailed non-linear pole line calculations using industry approved software.
* Assist with solving make ready challenges, providing design remedies for non-compliant pole lines.
* Participate in ongoing development of design standards and methodologies to further develop design and operational efficiencies.
* Review permit applications from third parties on behalf of Local Distribution Companies following set guidelines and standards.
* Be an ambassador to our clients ensuring their best interests are in mind at all times.
* Interface directly with clients and other third-party resources to discuss, review and provide consultations for project requirements.
* Complete minor AutoCAD based updates to project drawings.
* Assist the project team with achieving project deadlines and budgets.
Requirements
* Working experience with AutoCAD 2020 or later is mandatory.
* Able to pass an Auto CAD test during the interview process.
* Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
* Excellent written and oral communication skills.
* The ability to deal with multiple projects and conflicting deadlines and get along with people.
* Graduate from an accredited post secondary technical educational institution.
* Knowledge of CSA, ESA, and Ont Reg. 22.04.
* Working knowledge of concrete and steel structural design principles.
Preferred Skills
* Experience with utility companies (i.e., electric, gas, telecom, fiber optic).
* Previous consulting engineering work experience.
The Location
Planview Utility Services has 3 offices – Markham, London, and Ottawa. Our clients and their projects are based throughout the province. Remote work is a possibility for this role. Specific situations can be discussed on a case-by-case basis. All positions require the ability to attend a Planview office in person weekly.
