Our multidisciplinary referral hospital is currently taking applications for an ECVN residency position in Veterinary Neurology. The successful candidate will join our established and dynamic team of three experienced European Diplomates in Veterinary Neurology, a dedicated discipline Manager, a first, second and third-year Neurology Residents, two Neurology Interns and three dedicated Neurology Nurses, in a purpose built, state-of-the-art referral hospital in Derby.

Our hospital works in conjunction with the University of Nottingham - School of Veterinary medicine, offering opportunities for collaborative work and teaching of the final year student during their clinical rotations. We also work alongside a Vets@Night in-house service to ensure all our patients receive around the clock care.
The team
Pride Veterinary Referrals strives to deliver world class patient care. State-of-the-art facilities include 13 consultation rooms, 8 hospital wards (including dedicated intensive care unit and isolation unit), 5 theatres, 1.5T MRI, a 16-slice CT, digital radiography, electrodiagnostic equipment including EEG, physiotherapy and hydrotherapy unit.
Pride Veterinary Referrals delivers multi-disciplinary, specialist-led care, facilitating close inter-departmental collaboration to provide the best possible outcome for all patients. We enjoy a close relationship with our other specialist services including internal medicine, Oncology, orthopaedic surgery, soft tissue surgery, Ophthalmology, Cardiology, diagnostic imaging, Anaesthesia and a rehabilitation team.
The role
We are looking for two highly motivated, self-driven, inquisitive candidates with a passion for gold standard inpatient care, clinical work, clinical research and teaching. We would like one candidate to start in November 2024 and the second to start in March 2025.
Our residency program offers the benefits of a busy referral hospital with a varied caseload, while also providing ample off-clinics time for externships, research, study-leave and holiday. Participation in an ‘out of hours’ rota is also expected (under supervision by a Neurology specialist). We also have an excellent academic/learning schedule already in place that includes weekly hospital-wide topic presentations, journal club, book club, neuro-imaging and neuro-pathology rounds.
Required qualifications and experience
1. Recognised veterinary degree and RCVS membership.
2. Minimum of a 12-month rotating internship within a university or referral clinic with a substantial case load or equivalent broad-based clinical experience in small animal practice of at least two-year duration (desirable in the UK).
3. Proficiency in English (written and verbal communication).
4. Right to work in the UK.
