This individual will share a vast amount of responsibilities for weld inspection, robotic programming, and weld training with a small team of co-workers. Individual skills must be leveraged to benefit the collective success of the team.
Minimum Qualifications:
High School diploma or GED preferred. Must pass a pre-employment GMAW basic weld skills assessment test with a completed test score equal to, or greater than 89%. Excellent eyesight is required to identify subtle defects in welds. Must pass Jaeger J2 visual acuity exam prior to being hired; annually thereafter. Ability to read blueprints and interpret welding specifications.
Effectively convey information both verbally and in writing, including active listening, clear articulation, and confidently presenting requirements/ concerns to weld staff, supervisors, and other production personnel.
Experience with AWS D1.1 Structural Steel Code, Yaskawa Motoman robot cells (NX100, DX100, DX200 or YRC1000 controllers) and Inspection tools; e.g., fillet gauges, V-Wac gauge, Skew-T gauge, calipers, micrometers, and NDT equipment.
Preferred Skills:
Basic knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word and Microsoft PowerPoint.
Job Duties:
* Ensuring the quality of welded joints by visually inspecting before, during and after fabrication, verifying compliance with established welding procedures, welder qualifications, and code driven visual inspection criteria.
* Must properly identify defects and document inspection findings. Various non-destructive testing methods will be utilized to assess weld integrity.
* Responsible for job changes, fixture swaps, setups and modifying existing robot programs. Optimize welding parameters, troubleshoot programming issues, ensure weldments meet blueprint requirements, and ensure consistent, high-quality welds within a production environment.
* Responsible for conducting an established weld training program for newly hired welders. Communicate inspection findings to welders and provide guidance/ coaching to improve welding techniques.
* Actively contribute to a joint group effort, working alongside other inspectors to achieve welding excellence.
* Effectively communicate with engineering and quality teams to address non-conforming incoming parts and fit-up concerns.
* Adhere to all safety procedures/ policies, wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), and report any safety concerns or near misses.
