As a Assistant Cook for Sodexo at Doncaster Deaf Trust, Ledger Way, DN2 6AY, you will be responsible for the prompt and efficient preparation and service of meals for the School. This role involves preparing, cooking, serving, and maintaining cleanliness in the unit, upholding the highest standards for quality and hygiene in line with company procedures. Additionally, as an Allergen Champion, you will ensure all meals comply with Sodexo and school policies by identifying, preparing, and accurately labelling special diet meals, cross-referencing allergen information with registers to provide a safe and inclusive dining experience. What you do : Comply with all legal and company regulations within the catering unit. Prepare, cook, and present food as directed, maintaining company standards for quality and service. Use appropriate cooking and presentation techniques to ensure high standards are met. Store goods promptly and accurately, following rotation and delivery procedures. Keep work areas clean, tidy, and organized throughout the day, with thorough cleaning at day’s end. Serve customers quickly and politely, providing excellent customer service at all times. Replenish food and equipment as needed to maintain efficient service. Clean work areas after each service period to maintain hygiene. Complete administrative tasks, including food temperature logs, cleaning schedules, and allergen records. Follow all food safety, health, and company policies, especially regarding special diets and allergens. Report any incidents or issues to the Chef Manager or Supervisor promptly. Assist with school events, catering functions, and support other units in emergencies if required. What you bring : Must have expertise on cooking on a large scale, anywhere between 100 – 1300 students. Have experience following recipes, possibly in a similar setting. Have experience working with fresh produce and ingredients. Be aware of the importance of adhering to health and safety procedures. Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines in a busy Kitchen environment. Be professional, leading by example and having a positive outlook is key. Good knowledge of allergens would be good. Hold basic food handling skills certification: NVQ Level 2 Level 2 Food safety Certificate A minimum of 1 years of experience in hands on cooking, training on Food Hygiene, and Health & Safety will be given.
