Job overview
The Band 6 Occupational Therapist (OT) role in our community service is a dynamic and rewarding opportunity to work closely with a skilled multidisciplinary team (MDT) in the Rapid Response and Home First Service.
As a Band 6 OT, your main responsibility will be to manage a clinical caseload, providing comprehensive occupational therapy assessments and interventions to patients in their homes or residential environments. You will collaborate with physiotherapists, nurses, and rehabilitation assistants to deliver holistic rehabilitation and support patients in achieving their functional goals.
In addition to your clinical duties, you will provide clinical leadership to rehab assistants, guiding their professional development. You will also contribute to service evaluation and development, working with the Band 7 Occupational Therapist to enhance care quality.

Main duties of the job
1. Conducting comprehensive assessments of patients in general rehabilitation.
2. Determining clinical diagnoses and developing individualized treatment plans.
3. Providing evidence-based occupational therapy interventions to patients with complex acute and/or chronic conditions.
4. Managing your own caseload, including assessment, treatment, and support of clients.
5. Applying specialist skills in assessment and treatment within the General Medical Rehabilitation care remit.
6. Supporting students on placement and providing mentorship.
7. Contributing to the planning, development, delivery, and evaluation of the therapy service provided to General Medical Rehabilitation patients.
8. Ability to develop and implement effective treatment plans.
9. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to establish rapport with patients and their families.
10. Proficiency in conducting comprehensive occupational therapy assessments.
11. Knowledge of evidence-based practice and the ability to apply it in your interventions.
12. Ability to manage a diverse caseload and prioritize tasks effectively.
13. Strong teamwork and collaboration skills to work effectively with the multidisciplinary team.

* Minimum of recent 2 years experience working as OT post-graduate
