The Senior Stress Engineer provides analytical guidance in structural and occupant injury simulation, working closely with other functions such as Design, Certification and Production to ensure that seating products are lightweight, durable and safe throughout their working life. Key Responsibilities will include: In-depth working knowledge of aerospace industry standard stress analysis methods covering both hand calculations, linear/non-linear implicit FE analysis and/or multi-body dynamic analysis and/or non-linear explicit FE analysis methods. Assist with identifying certification test failure risk, an ensure it is managed effectively and minimised with the use of appropriate analytical methods and judgement. Prepare, review and approve hand calculations, linear static, non-linear, crash, multi-body dynamic and optimisation FE models for seating products to support the design and certification process, plus the in-service life of the product. Prepare, review and approve stress and structural documentation to submit for internal/external customers and regulatory approval. Review and approve drawings, designs, concessions and repairs with respect to stress. Support the Design team in ensuring that products meet cost and weight targets. Identify structural design issues and recommend improvements and alternate solutions. Supporting root cause analysis (e.g. 8D/Ishikawa). Minimum - 2:1 Bachelors (Honours) degree or equivalent in Mechanical/Aerospace/Structural Engineering. 5 years working in Aerospace or comparable industry Experience of working to industry standards and codes. Knowledge of Part 25 (EASA/FAA) and Boeing / Airbus specifications. Knowledge of ACs, ARPs and Aerospace Standards. Knowledge of Aerospace Material Standards and Material or component test standards and post-processing methods (e.g. ASTMs and BBasis calculations) Organisational and planning skills with ability to self-plan and manage the technical work Analysing structures made with high performance steels, corrosion resistant steels, aluminium and/or composite materials of both monolithic and sandwich panel construction. Proficient in root cause analysis (4D/8D/Ishikawa) Prepare, review and approve advanced linear/non-linear implicit FEMs and/or non-linear explicit FEMs and/or MBD models of large complex assemblies No candidate will meet every single desired qualification.
