Your new company
A well-established and growing manufacturing business is now seeking a Commercial Manager on a permanent full-time basis to join their company in Nelson. Reporting to the Commercial Director, you will be expected to research relevant sectors, competitors, and new product developments and implement an action plan while supporting and managing the office team.
The working pattern is Monday to Friday 08:30 am - 05:00 pm with flexible working after probation.
Your new role
As Commercial Manager, you will act as the first point of contact with the customer, portraying professionalism and confidence that delivers the ultimate in customer service; to build and maintain an active customer base to support the Commercial Director. By applying these skills, you will capitalize on commercial opportunities, which will include but are not limited to:
1. Market research into new areas; you will be responsible for testing and marketing new products through both customers' sites and social media.
2. Ensure that other team members remain focused and proactive, and deal with any queries that may arise.
3. Liaise with the Managing Director, Commercial Director, and Technical Director (the board).
4. Provide customers with excellent service, delivering exactly what they require.
5. Meet quarterly deadlines.
6. Build relationships with stakeholders, customers, clients, and logistics.
7. Handle enquiries, provide quotations, and follow up on orders.
8. Team Leadership & Internal Coordination.
9. Ensure smooth internal communication with production and warehousing.
10. Report on KPIs, implement one-to-ones, and track team performance.
11. Test new products and plan strategic rollouts.
12. Provide product training and support to customers and the sales team.
13. Write product-related blog posts and LinkedIn content.
What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in securing this position, you should obtain the following skill set:
1. Be ambitious, motivated, and a self-starter with the ability to work on your own initiative and prioritize and manage your own workload.
2. Proven experience and ability to communicate effectively, in writing, by email, and over the telephone with customers and suppliers.
3. Good knowledge of the English language, both written and oral.
4. The ability to quickly build fantastic rapport with customers and to exceed their expectations.
5. Proven ability in relation to negotiation regarding orders, pricing, and costs.
6. Excellent time management.
7. Ability to learn about new products in a rapidly evolving market.
8. Understanding technical drawings would be an advantage.
9. Understanding of SAP, SAGE, and ERP systems would be desirable.
10. Customer service and administration experience.
11. Experience of supporting a small team and providing training.
