Premier Foods has an extensive cooking sauces and soups portfolio across the brands: The Spice Tailor, Sharwoods, Loyd Grossman, Homepride, and Batchelors.

For this, you will need to be a real “foodie” with a passion for creative, innovative, and consumer trend-based product development, along with the practical know-how to translate our big ideas into fantastic, flavorful products as we look to expand our product portfolio into new cuisines and formats. This person will need to travel to India/Asia occasionally to research new recipes and undergo factory trials.
What we need from you:
1. Knowledge/experience of manufacturing processes relating to our brands; specific experience in pasteurisation/sterilisation would be advantageous.
2. BSc Food Science/Technology or related degree, HNC Food Science/Technology, BTEC Food Science.
3. Other food-related non-science degrees/qualifications would be considered, particularly culinary/chef-based qualifications and experience.
4. A real “foodie” (Desirable) with passion/flair for creative, innovative trend-based product development.
5. Ambitious self-starter, able to manage their own projects independently; flexible, tenacious, problem-solving in all aspects of development. Able to work within a team and contribute with similar enthusiasm.

What you'll be doing:
1. Deliver the R&D programme for NPD/EPD/ESG for the related product area.
2. Lead scale-up development via pilot plant & factory trials with operations and site technical teams at relevant sites.
3. Work independently and with marketing to develop new ideas and shape projects.
4. Monitor current trends in cuisines, ingredients, and consumer trends.
5. Understand the ingredient, product functionality and work with suppliers to develop exciting new opportunities.
6. Progress all aspects of document control and process relating to the project.
7. Work with the Sensory and Marketing teams to set benchmarks and appropriate product assessments.
8. Harness internal and external organisations' capability to drive change.
9. Link to the technical support function at all sites of manufacture (internal and co-manufacture) to ensure quality standards are set and efficient delivery of all programs.
