Job Description Summary GE Renewable Energy is seeking a dedicated and skilled On-Site Services Specialist to join our team. This role involves extensive travel across the mainland UK and Ireland, working on client sites to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality service activities. Job Description Overview: Ideal candidates will have a mix of hands-on experience in electrical/mechanical engineering within substations, significant safety awareness, and the ability to manage on-site service projects efficiently. - Substation primary plant construction and installation experience. - HV (High Voltage) equipment experience, including transformers, disconnectors, and earth switches. - Commissioning, maintenance, and repair of HV plant. - Knowledge of Construction (Design & Management) Regulations (CDM) and safety compliance. - Comfortable working at heights and in confined spaces. - Field-based role, so the candidate should be willing to travel extensively across the UK and possibly overseas. Key Responsi bilities: ? - Ensure all site activities meet the highest standards of health, safety, quality, and environmental compliance. - Lead and oversee installation, repair, commissioning, and maintenance of GE products on client sites. - Manage on-site resources and field teams, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget. - Conduct investigative site visits, assess equipment conditions, and provide recommendations for maintenance or repairs. - Prepare and issue site documentation (RAMS, Variations, NCRs, TQs, and Site Instructions). - Report project progress, engineering challenges, and resource needs to the Project Manager. - Support team development through mentorship and performance reviews of GE technicians and apprentices. - Maintain accurate on-site records and quality documentation in line with GE governance and standards. - Be open to extensive travel across the UK and potential overseas assignments. Education & Experience Requirements: - Qualifications: City & Guilds, BTEC, NVQ, ONC, or HND in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering preferred. - Certifications: IOSH Managing Safely certification desirable. - Technical Experience: Proven experience in substation primary plant construction, installation techniques, and secondary wireman responsibilities. - HV Equipment Expertise: Hands-on experience in the installation, repair, commissioning, and maintenance of high-voltage (HV) plant and transformers. - Equipment Knowledge: Familiarity with disconnectors and earth switch operations. - Regulatory Awareness: Strong understanding of Construction (Design and Management) Regulations and the responsibilities of Principal Contractors and Contractors. - Work Environment: Comfortable working at heights and in confined spaces. - Flexibility: Ability to travel and work away from home as required, including potential international assignments.
