Scope and purpose of the role This is an exciting and unique opportunity to join The Security Institute at an important phase of its growth and development. The Membership Manager is a key role within The Security Institute team, reporting to the Chief Executive Officer. The purpose of the role is to oversee two important departments within the Institute, namely Membership and Chartership. You will play an important part in shaping our membership services and offer which will increase the income to the organization and awareness for our brand. You will work closely with the Institutes leadership, managers, and officers to develop and deliver high quality services. 3. About you You will be a self-driven and output focused experienced manager, with an understanding and passion for improving our services and extending our reach. You will be agile, capable of absorbing key information quickly and efficiently and be confident in managing a wide ranging and fluctuating workload. 4. Main duties and responsibilities (not necessarily in priority order) To lead on the membership recruitment, retention, renewals and liaison with existing members. To engage with members to shape and improve the member value proposition to maximise recruitment and retention, understanding what they value and how else the organisation can support them To analyse membership data, trends, market research, intelligence and member feedback to develop engaging, accessible, relevant and fit for purpose products and services to support membership learning and development To project manage and coordinate the delivery of the planned membership engagement activities To assist in the recruitment and retention of volunteers from our membership to join and contribute to the work of Institute. To develop and to oversee the effective delivery of the membership and chartership plan with the core aims of building our brand, expanding our reach, and supporting our growth. To ensure that members of all levels have a good experience through the whole of the membership journey, from application to offboarding. To ensure that the membership service is of good quality and high value and that the proposition is recognised as good value. To ensure that we have effective systems and processes for membership and chartership life cycle. To participate in events and conferences to promote membership and the work of the organisation. To oversee the effective running of special interest groups ensuring they are supported by Head Office and add value to our membership proposition. To provide content to the Marketing & Comms team to keep our internal and external communications up to date. To negotiate partnerships and sponsorship with external parties working in collaboration with the CEO and partnership colleagues. To line manage all line reports effectively ensuring that they have clear objectives aligned to our organisation strategy/plans. To support line reports and colleagues as required to ensure that we work as a collective team to achieve the organisations mission and a positive work culture. To ensure that appropriate records are maintained in the correct system in accordance with our internal policies. To ensure there is cohesive and aligned work with colleagues within the organization. To prepare reports as required for the Chief Executive and/or Board of Directors To comply with data protection legislation and act responsibly on matters of data disclosure both internally and to third parties To build positive working relationships both with internal colleagues and externally with stakeholders To represent the Institute in a professional manner and to always act in a manner which will not damage its reputation. To undertake any reasonable activities that may arise in support of colleagues and the Institute 5. Essential Experience of working in a membership organisation. Experience of line management, providing direction to a team and developing people in their roles Knowledge of the membership lifecycle Experience of analysing data, interpreting results and presenting evidence-based decision making Ability to use own initiative, independently and as part of a team. Ability to manage own and other conflicting priorities while meeting deadlines Strong relationship-building and networking skills, able to represent The Institute in a positive and professional way. Excellent written and verbal communication skills Highly organised, with excellent attention to detail Excellent project and time management skills and able to manage multiple projects. Knowledge of event organisation and management Ability to work positively in a high performing team with a commitment to creating a positive work culture Highly competent in using the Microsoft Office 365 suite and a CRM Capacity and willingness to travel on occasion throughout the UK, including overnight stays. Evidence of the right to work in the UK. 6. Desirable Educated to degree level or a professional qualification in management/membership Knowledge of the security industry Experience of reporting into a Board Experience of working to income generation targets Experience of developing a business plan Experience of commissioning work and managing external contracts Experience of developing and delivering presentations and/or training 7.
