Responsibilities:
- As a Senior Data Analyst within the Open Source Data Analysis Team (OSDA), I will lead a team of specialists to deliver quality open-source data analysis quickly. With direct line management of 4-6 team members, I will ensure all duties align with HMRC policies. I will provide deeper insight into known compliance risks and offer expert advice in gathering and analyzing open source data. Working with the wider management team, I will employ project management principles and tools to manage conflicting demands while developing shared team objectives. My role will include engaging and motivating my team to implement an action-based delivery plan, ensuring quality and timely outputs. I will be responsible for leading multiple projects and ensuring the quality of insight and analysis meets the expected standard. Additionally, I will build and maintain strong, collaborative working relationships with team members, peers, customers, stakeholders, and subject matter experts across HMRC and the wider government.

The OSDA team I will be joining focuses on three core functions: Horizon Scanning, Data Insight, and Social Media Analysis. Our work involves identifying trends in web technologies and e-commerce that impact HMRC's strategic objectives, as well as complex data collection and analysis to inform decision-making. We utilize a bespoke cloud-based private network and various tools to analyze all areas of the web, delivering actionable analysis to tackle risks.
The successful candidate will be assessed against specific behaviors, including Leadership, Communicating and Influencing, and Changing and Improving, during the selection process. Technical skills will also be evaluated through a presentation demonstrating experience in applying complex data analysis techniques.
We offer a salary of £44,110, with HM Revenue and Customs contributing £12,778 towards your membership in the Civil Service Defined Benefit Pension scheme.
