Clinical Nurse Specialist Paediatric Plastic Surgery and Laser Service

Main duties of the job
1. To take the lead in Plastic Surgery and Laser service nursing responsibilities, trust wide for a defined caseload of children and families incorporating a care co-ordination remit.
2. To lead the Plastic surgery and laser service nursing team and ensure the provision of a responsive, high quality Service.
3. The post holder will provide expert advice to the organisation on related matters, ensuring BWC NHS Trust is at the forefront of national best practice.
4. To provide effective nursing leadership expertise advice trust wide and ensure the provision of effective nursing care to children and families.
5. To act as a role model and expert practitioner.
6. To have management responsibility for other CNS team members as appropriate.
7. To facilitate the development of all staff trust wide, in relation to Plastic surgery and laser service and associated nursing responsibilities.
8. To promote an innovative and progressive attitude to the continual improvement of patient care through research and evidenced based practice.
9. To work with and support Tissue viability colleagues within in the trust.

Person Specification
Essential
* RSCN /RN(Child Branch)
* Current registration with Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC)
* Degree level education or equivalent experience
* Approved management training / equivalent management experience
* Degree modules/qualification in Plastic Surgery and Laser therapy
* Extensive experience at Band 6 or above in plastic surgery and laser therapy
* Evidence of ongoing and current professional development
* Previous people management experience
* Excellent communication and negotiation skills with children, young people and parents, as well as members of staff including all the multidisciplinary team.
* Excellent organisational skills
* Proven leadership skills in an acute clinical paediatric setting
* Proven ability to lead a team Highly motivated and able to motivate others
* Competent in the use of IT systems
* Team working
Desirable
* Qualification in Tissue Viability
* Teaching qualification
* Recognised high Dependency Qualification
* Knowledge of current NHS policy and initiatives
* Proven ability to lead practice development
