We are seeking an experienced "Temporary Accommodation and Housing Officer" to work within the housing sector among one of the local authorities in London, responsible for offering housing advice, providing support with housing legislation and policies. In this key role, you will manage and coordinate temporary accommodation placements for individuals and families who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. You will work closely with both service users and other departments to ensure that accommodation is appropriate, legal, and meets the specific needs of those affected.

Contract: Temporary (3-6 months, with potential for extension)
Roles and Responsibilities:-
* Placement & Accommodation Management: Assess and manage temporary accommodation placements for individuals and families, ensuring that all housing is suitable, safe, and complies with relevant regulations.
* Housing Advice & Support: Provide expert advice on housing options and entitlements to vulnerable individuals, offering guidance on securing permanent housing and accessing additional services.
* Case Management: Maintain a caseload of clients, supporting them through the process of securing temporary accommodation, completing paperwork, and moving to permanent housing where applicable.
* Legal Compliance & Documentation: Ensure all placements comply with housing legislation, council policies, and the relevant statutory requirements. Maintain accurate, up-to-date records and documentation.
* Collaboration: Work closely with landlords, housing providers, and external agencies to negotiate and secure temporary housing, as well as to monitor the ongoing suitability of placements.
* Crisis Management: Handle urgent housing needs and emergency cases in a calm and effective manner, ensuring prompt and appropriate solutions.
* Regular Monitoring & Review: Conduct regular welfare checks and reviews of households in temporary accommodation, identifying any additional support needs and referring to relevant services where necessary.
* Reporting & Data: Produce reports on temporary accommodation provision, highlighting trends, issues, and recommendations for service improvement.
Key Skills & Experience:-
* Proven experience in housing management, temporary accommodation, or homelessness services within local authorities or social housing settings.
* Solid understanding of housing law, including homelessness legislation, temporary accommodation regulations, and local authority duties.
* Experience of working with vulnerable individuals and families, with a customer-centric approach.
* Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage complex situations and cases effectively.
* Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to liaise with a wide range of stakeholders including clients, colleagues, and external agencies.
* Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple cases and meet deadlines in a busy environment.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating a collaborative approach to service delivery.
* Experience with housing management software or case management systems is desirable.
