Advanced Chemical Engineer
This is an exciting and unique opportunity to work around the world as part ofa Field Operating Service (FOS) team, supported by technology experts fromUOP's Operating Technical Service. FOS advisors are on-site prior, during andafter the initial start-up of UOP technologies. They help to ensure that theplant and operators are ready for commissioning. Advisors are also involved inthe start-up and test runs that demonstrate guarantees and are accountable forprocess, equipment, refining and petrochemical insight and assist customers inresolving engineering and operating issues.
UOP advisors may remain at a site for a few days to several months for eachassignment. For each start-up, advisors work with a number of UOP-licensedprocesses and a variety of individuals within and outside of UOP. Theexperience gained from each assignment, and the subsequent interaction withother UOP employees, provide a solid background for assessing and solvingproblems encountered in each situation in various locations around the world.
Accountabilitiesof this position include:
* Providingfield technical assistance on new and/or revamped refinery unit checkout andstartups.
* Providing field technical assistance and field support for developmentactivities in commercial refinery units.
* Following required safety procedures.
* Providing feedback including suggested improvements on UOP process designs.
* Troubleshooting and recommending solutions while also addressing improvementand innovative problem solving.
* Familiar with controls communications networks
* Coordinating commissioning activities.
* Transferring technology to customers operating and engineering staff.
* Reviewing emergency and normal operating procedures with customer shiftoperating personnel.
Qualifiedcandidates must have:
* Aminimum of 10 years experience in the petrochemical, gas processing or refiningindustry.
* Ten years of directly applicable field experience may be considered in lieuof an engineering degree.
* Experience with at least one of the following UOP technologies (CatalyticReforming, Gas Processing, Hydrocracking.
* Hydrotreating, FCC, Merox Treating,HF Alkylation, Paraffin Isomerization, Adsorptive Separations (Parex andMolex), Xylene Isomerization and other Aromatics processing, (Cumene and EthylBenzene) is preferred.
* Proficiency in written and verbal English.
* Proficiencyin Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and Word.
