About World Challenge World Challenge has spent over 30 years empowering young people through experiential travel, offering them the chance to lead student expeditions across the globe. Through these journeys, students develop key life skills such as leadership, resilience, and self-belief. We collaborate with schools to create transformational travel experiences that foster personal growth and global citizenship. World Challenge is part of Experience Education, one of the world’s leading student travel groups. The Role At World Challenge, our Expedition Leaders are central to delivering safe, impactful, and unforgettable experiences for young people around the world. As Leader Coordinator, you’ll play a key role in supporting this by recruiting, placing, and developing our freelance Leaders — ensuring every expedition is led with skill, confidence, and care. You’ll thrive on building relationships, matching the right Leader to the right trip, and working with energy and precision to meet placement targets. Alongside this, you’ll support Leaders to grow, providing feedback, guidance, and encouragement every step of the way. This role sits within our Leader Management Team, reporting to the Leader Recruitment Manager, and collaborates closely with colleagues in the UK, Australia, and South Africa. What You’ll Be Doing Leader Placement Work closely with our freelance Leaders to understand their skills, experience, and availability. Carefully match Leaders to expeditions that suit their expertise, technical qualifications, and facilitation style. Prepare contracts and key information packs, confirming assignments with both Leaders and School Leaders. Collaborate with our Australian Leader Management Team to coordinate international placements when needed. Liaise with Sales, Support, and Safety teams to set Leaders up for success — ensuring they’re fully prepared and appropriately qualified for the trip. Leader Support & Development Provide constructive feedback and debriefs to Leaders following trips and training events. Support any follow-up actions required after incidents or concerns raised during trips. Encourage Leaders to pursue relevant qualifications and professional development opportunities. Help identify skills gaps or development needs and contribute ideas for future Leader training. Be a friendly, reliable point of contact for our Leaders — answering questions and keeping them engaged and connected to World Challenge. Leader Recruitment Support recruitment activities when new Leaders are needed — from reviewing applicants to delivering assessments, both virtually and in the field. Present at Potential Leader Courses and contribute to assessing candidates. Deliver individual debriefs to candidates post-assessment and work with the Operations team to sign off successful new Leaders. Other Responsibilities Support our 24/7 Operations Centre when needed — working as part of the wider Operations team to ensure smooth running of expeditions. Who We’re Looking For We’re looking for a confident and proactive relationship-builder — someone who thrives on connecting with people, solving problems, and making things happen in a fast-paced environment. You’ll balance empathy and tenacity, enjoy working to targets, and have a keen eye for detail to make sure every expedition is set up for success. You’ll Bring: A confident, engaging communication style with strong emotional intelligence — able to build rapport quickly and handle sensitive conversations with care. Motivation to work towards weekly placement targets, remaining calm under pressure — especially when managing last-minute changes. Strong organisational skills and attention to detail — ensuring the right Leader is matched to the right trip every time. Experience delivering constructive feedback and supporting others to develop. Flexibility and adaptability — able to manage changing priorities and work independently to solve problems. Experience working in a target-driven, administrative, recruitment, or sales role Comfortable presenting to groups — or keen to develop this skill — including contributing to assessment courses. A genuine interest in outdoor education, leadership development, and creating impactful experiences for young people. Bonus if you have experience or knowledge of the outdoor education or adventure travel sector — but it’s not essential. Why Join Us? At World Challenge, we believe in the power of adventure to change lives.
