Head of Category Management - Public Sector Procurement
Salary : £85,000 + Car allowance + bonus
Location : UK Remote (with options to base in regional offices, including London, Manchester, Birmingham, Sheffield, Leeds, Edinburgh, and others)
This is a pivotal opportunity to lead a high-impact, rapidly growing procurement function within the healthcare and public sector. This organisation is one of the UK's largest providers of procurement solutions, working with NHS trusts, healthcare bodies, and other public sector organisations across the country.
As they embark on an exciting phase of new service development and market expansion, they are seeking a forward-thinking procurement leader to head up their Category Management teams. With a multi-billion-pound framework portfolio spanning the NHS, blue light services, local government, and other public sector bodies, your leadership will be key in driving transformational change and achieving ambitious growth targets.
Role Overview
The Head of Category Management will be responsible for shaping the strategic direction of multiple procurement category teams (circa 60 individuals), ensuring best-in-class procurement solutions that meet the evolving needs of the healthcare and wider public sector landscape.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead and develop various Category Management teams, fostering a collaborative culture and leveraging technology to drive improved procurement outcomes.
* Oversee a range of cross-functional procurement teams, focusing on contract and supplier relationship management to deliver innovative and cost-effective solutions.
* Provide strategic direction to expand their framework portfolio, increase spend under management, and support the organisation's long-term growth objectives.
* Build strong relationships with key stakeholders across the NHS, healthcare, and wider public sector to ensure procurement solutions are aligned with customer needs and deliver maximum value.
* Drive continuous improvement initiatives, challenging existing practices, and identifying opportunities for innovation.
* Serve as a key member of the Procurement Solutions Leadership Team, contributing to high-level strategic decision-making and deputising for the Head of Procurement Solutions when necessary.
What We're Looking For:
* Proven leadership experience in healthcare or public sector procurement, with a deep understanding of frameworks such as CCS, NHS Supply Chain, and public procurement regulations.
* Strong strategic and operational capabilities, with a track record of delivering significant cost savings and procurement improvements.
* Experience managing large teams and complex procurement portfolios, with an emphasis on category management and supplier relationship management.
* Ability to lead change, drive innovation, and deliver transformative procurement strategies.
* Commercially astute with excellent stakeholder engagement skills.
