Job Description:
Our client, a large public sector organisation based in the Belfast area, is looking for an Agriculture Inspector to join their team.
Duration: Initially expected to last for 6 months with an option to extend.
Rate of pay: £17.40
Location: Belfast with some travel expected to Larne & Warrenpoint port.
Hours: 37 hours per week. This will be worked as part of a shift arrangement which includes regular weekend and night duty. The four-week shift pattern will provide coverage for 3 shifts of 8.24 hours duration every 24 hours, including early, late, and overnight shifts. Staff cover 6 nights during the night shift week. An example of working times is as follows:
1. Early Shift: 9:00am-5:00pm
2. Late Shift: 5:00pm-1:00am
3. Night Shift: 1:00am-9:00am
Shift patterns may be subject to change, determined by business needs.
Main Duties:
The post holders will conduct an identity check of consignments of plants for planting, seed potatoes, and used agricultural machinery. They will record that the information on the trade unit matches the information provided on pre-notified Common Health Entry Documents (CHED PP). Non-compliances will be referred to a supervisor for action to enable compliance or enforcement actions to be taken. The post holder may be required to assist with other duties within DAERA Portal across the NIPHL and NERMS schemes.
Minimum Entry Level Qualifications:
The minimum entry level qualifications to the Inspector Group 1 grade within DAERA are:
At least 4 GCSE/GCE “O” levels at Grade C or above in 4 subjects (including English and Mathematics) or equivalent
AND (i) A Work-based Diploma in Agriculture or (ii) A BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Agriculture or (iii) Equivalent.
Desired Experience and Qualifications:
Relevant experience in the last 2 years is desirable. Training will be provided.
