What you will be doing:
This role is currently subject to a *bonus payment scheme* of an interim Inner-London 'cost-of-living' allowance. This is an additional £3000.00 payment over 12 months, paid monthly as a taxable benefit (pro rata for part-time roles), subject to review at the end of March 2025.
You will be working within an integrated healthcare framework to provide support to prisoners aged 18 and over. The team has a broad skills mix to deliver combined psychosocial and clinical interventions promoting holistic recovery and health and wellbeing to prisoners. This might include working with low-level mental health needs and/or substance misuse issues.
Day to day, you will be responsible for:
1. Managing a caseload, providing appropriate harm reduction advice and guidance, assessments, and care plans.
2. Delivering structured 1:1 and group-work sessions for both Substance Misuse and Low Level Mental Health service users.
3. Providing transitional support from prison to the community to prepare service users for release.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Carry out risk/initial/comprehensive assessments to inform treatment journeys.
2. Carry out interventions relevant to individual client needs, including 1:1 sessions and group work/programme facilitation.
3. Facilitate substance misuse and mental health groups, and Wellbeing and Recovery programmes to the required standard.
4. Support service users by developing appropriate release plans with them.
5. Support clinical services by carrying out second signatory duties.
What we are looking for:
We are looking for motivated, self-driven, and passionate individuals to work with our client group and support them on their way to recovery. The skills and experience listed below are desirable but not essential, as we offer a robust induction and ongoing training programme to develop our workforce.
1. Experience of working within substance misuse services.
2. Experience of working in a prison environment.
3. Experience of carrying out comprehensive assessments, risk management plans, and the design and implementation of SMART care plans.
4. Experience of delivering structured interventions to service users.
5. Experience of facilitating groups.
6. Using motivational interviewing techniques in both 1:1 and group settings.
7. Strong IT skills.
8. An understanding of continuity of care, holistic care needs, and community services.
9. Experience of promoting and supporting Equality and Diversity.
10. Knowledge of the issues facing substance misusers.
11. Knowledge of the Recovery Agenda.
12. Knowledge of Safeguarding.
13. Speaker of multiple languages is desirable but not essential.
