The post holder will lead and facilitate a specialised programme aimed at equipping midwives and obstetricians to increase their knowledge and competence in identifying fetal wellbeing, potential fetal compromise, actual fetal compromise in all clinical settings and to improve clinical decision making. Collaboratively, the fetal wellbeing team and Academic Health Science Network, will deliver a comprehensive training and competency testing package to provide assurance that midwives and obstetricians responsible for assessing fetal wellbeing are competent in practice. This post holder will be part of the practice development team and deputise for the practice development team lead in their absence. The post holder will be required to work in a clinical role for 0.2WTE of their hours, including the bleep holder rota. They will also participate in the midwifery on call rota and need to be flexible to meet the organisational demands of the service.Main duties of the job To be visible in the community and hospital to initiate and /or lead discussion regarding fetal assessment and to support staff in assessing fetal wellbeing The post holder will plan and co-ordinate the weekly Intrapartum shared learning meeting; liaising with the clinical governance risk midwife to ensure themes and learning are shared. The post holder will assist the practice development team lead with planning and co-ordinating PROMPT multi-professional training. They will lead on the provision of skills & drills and will be the lead for Maternity Incentive Standard safety actions applicable to fetal monitoring
* Registered MW with NMC
* Relevant Teaching Qualification
* Evidence of additional fetal monitoring education e.g. Advanced CTG Masterclass
* PROMPT Instructor
Desirable criteria
* Masters level study/currently working towards, Recent experience in intraptum care and low risk midwifery
* Experience of leading skills and drills in a variety of settings
* Evidence of leadership/management
* Evidence of facilitation/teaching/assessing/coaching, Knowldge of MAternity Incentive Scheme
* Knowledge of national drivers regarding reducing poor outcomes e.g. Saving Babies Lives
* Expert knowledge of interpretation of CTG in all clinical settings
* Experience of involvement in successful change management, You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
