Job Description:
Senior Quantity Surveyor – Telecoms
An opportunity has arisen for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join the team at Galliford Try within our Telecoms Business. Ideally, you will be based in or around the Glasgow area.
What you will be doing:
* Maximise margin recovery through Clients and Subcontractors accounts
* Create and maintain profit motivation of the team, having regard for Client/Subcontractor relations
* Optimise cash flow through external valuations and control of subcontractor accounts
* Assisting in costing works associated with the site locations
* Assisting with procuring sub-contractors and their services as necessary
* Monitor Reserves/Work in Progress, and Subcontractors Payments
* Provide assistance to Financial Department in the recovery of outstanding monies
* Monitor both Main Final Account and Subcontractors Final Account progress
* Monitor and facilitate the recovery of retention and the like
* Ensure correct contractual procedures are operated for both Main Contracts and Subcontracts
* Ensure that the site team is complying with contractual obligations
* Monitor that subcontract conditions are ‘Back-to-Back’ with main contract conditions or with maximum risk transfer
* Identify financial risk associated with non-compliance of contract conditions and report accordingly
* Identify any special addition terms and conditions that should be incorporated in the subcontract agreement
* Provide pre-contract advice to Estimating Department related to amended Terms and Conditions of Main Contracts and resource availability for forward workload
* Claims preparation and recovery
* Ensure that all necessary contemporaneous records and documentation are maintained for maximum recovery
* Provide monthly Cost Value Reports and monthly Margin Analysis in conjunction with Line Management
* Identify separately over/under valuation, maintenance reserves, speculative reserves, and any management adjustments
* Identify and evaluate risk for example prolongation costs not recoverable together with any liability for LADS
* Forecast Out-turn Margin / Commercial Analysis / programme / progress in conjunction with Line Management & review monthly
* Forecast contract turnover in conjunction with Line Management and adjust as necessary
* Weekly Contract WIP and Debtor reviews with Quantity Surveyors and monthly collated reports for management
* Recruit, motivate, plan, co-ordinate, maintain and develop staff to undertake current and prospective workloads
* Participate and actively encourage both Company training courses and on the job training
* Monitor and record individual performances on an ongoing basis together with annual appraisals
About You:
* Experience within the construction/telecommunications industries and knowledge of the relevant standards
* Candidates must be willing to work toward obtaining a security clearance to DV for the role
* Previous experience on large scale defence/MoD projects would be helpful but not essential
* Ability to establish strong, collaborative working relationships
* Candidates must be excellent team players and good communication skills are essential
