Location: Working in the East team, the area covered will be between Leeds and the East Coast - base location will be dependent on home location. Mixture of site/office/home working.
Work type: Permanent. 37 hours per week, Monday - Friday. Participation in an out of hours standby rota is a requirement of the role.
We have an exciting opportunity for a Water Quality Scientist to join the Water Quality team at Yorkshire Water and be a part of helping Yorkshire Water to provide the best service to our customers.
What we do:
We provide essential water and wastewater services to every corner of the Yorkshire region, ensuring clean and safe drinking water and proper wastewater management.
This is a vital role, as you will be providing the best customer service and resolution to water quality related contacts. You will optimise assets, systems, processes, and procedures in line with continuous improvement in water quality performance and protection of public health.
Where you fit in:
As our Water Quality Scientist you will:
* Lead a co-ordinated, planned response to incidents across the business, ensuring processes and procedures are followed.
* Prepare reports for submission to our regulator/Senior Managers and investigatory reports.
* Ensure compliance with our Performance Commitments.
* Undertake the role of water quality consultant on a 1 in 5-week basis.
* Be part of the water quality standby rota on a minimum 1 week in 5 frequency.
What skills & qualifications you will need:
* Comprehensive understanding of water quality processes and regulatory obligations.
* Ability to deal with incidents to protect public health.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
* Strong analytical skills and problem-solving abilities.
* Ability to handle large amounts of diverse data.
