WHAT DOES THE ROLE ENTAIL?
* Nurturing Relationships: Build and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with client senior management and key stakeholders by actively listening to their needs and responding with empathy and care.
* Large Scale Operations: Manage a 1 million sq ft facility that includes three separate chambers, with both manual and automated operations, and oversee a team of over 500 people.
* Collaborative Planning: Contribute to creating a Joint Business Plan with clients, ensuring a shared strategic framework that aligns the goals of both DHL and the client for mutual success.
* Operational Excellence: Focus on operational service, cost control, and quality performance while guiding regular client business reviews in a supportive and inclusive manner.
* Empowering Site Performance: Maximize site operations by effectively directing teams, thoughtfully planning resources, and maintaining open communication with all staff levels to foster a harmonious and productive work environment.
* Commitment to Compliance: Ensure that site operations meet all legal, corporate, contractual, and client requirements for safety, quality, service delivery, and cost, prioritizing the well-being of all stakeholders.
* Strategic Resource Planning: Implement effective resource planning based on client volume forecasts and operational capabilities, regularly reviewing and adjusting plans to stay responsive and adaptive.
* Championing Continuous Improvement: Lead the continuous improvement of operational performance against targets and budgets, identifying enhancement opportunities and developing impactful change programs with stakeholder support and engagement.
WHAT DO WE NEED FROM YOU?
* Experience in managing closed book commercial arrangements with full P&L accountability for budgets over £35 million, ensuring careful financial oversight and alignment with business goals.
* Proven ability to oversee large, complex operations, including automated warehousing facilities, demonstrating expertise in advanced logistics management.
* Strong track record of leading warehousing operations at a senior level in fast-paced, high-pressure environments, focusing on process optimization and efficiency enhancement.
* Background in building effective relationships with Trade Unions through strong Employee Relations (ER) and Industrial Relations (IR) strategies.
* Commitment to delivering a safety-first culture in all operations.
* Experience with Process Improvement techniques to tackle operational challenges, along with a passion for continuous improvement essential for success in this role.
* Proven ability to build and nurture high-performing teams, fostering engagement, collaboration, and a culture of success.
* Outstanding record of achieving targets, reflecting a results-oriented mindset.
* Experience in an OEM manufacturing supply chain environment is desirable.
