Description
What You'll Do:
Epic Games is looking for a Technical Designer in Animation (TDiA) to collaborate with Disney on various animation systems. You will leverage your animation sense and technical understanding to design and create gameplay animation systems that facilitate appealing, high-quality character motion. You will serve as a primary contact for animation implementation issues, working closely with Animation, Design, and Engineering teams to ensure a smooth animation pipeline.
Requirements
What We're Looking For:
1. A strong animation sense with an understanding of realistic and stylized character motion.
2. Expertise with animation pipelines and tools such as Maya, MotionBuilder, and Unreal Engine using the Control Rig toolset.
3. Exceptional problem-solving skills and strong written communication.
4. Familiarity with gameplay animation tools, including blend trees and state machines; experience with Unreal Engine Animation Blueprints is a plus.
5. Experience with AAA game development, preferably on a large team using an established game engine; Unreal Engine experience is a plus.
6. Self-motivated with a strong work ethic and ability to work independently.
7. Coding knowledge or experience with C++ is a plus.
Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
1. Create animation behavior tools/techniques that allow for complex movement systems.
2. Design and implement animation state machines/behaviors and runtime solutions.
3. Collaborate with Animation, Design, and Engineering departments to troubleshoot and solve animation implementation issues.
4. Work with animation leadership to maintain the style and quality of animations.
5. Identify opportunities to improve the animation pipeline/workflow and provide solutions for technical animation problems.
