The Role Working within the Pre-Construction team you will be one of the key players in the development and growth of our fibre network through the planning and design of various FTTP projects, ranging from small remote hamlets up to large urban market towns. You’ll work closely with our build, engineering and delivery teams to deliver full fibre project designs using both Point to Point/XGSPON technology and provide all the necessary pre-construction information required for handover. You will also be responsible for the acceptance of As-built information post-construction and the accurate up-keep of our current network maps. The successful candidate will need to be forward thinking, enjoy solving problems and happy to work both independently and as part of a team to achieve our goals. Responsibilities Manage, plan and design P2P and XGS PON networks whilst using an array of techniques and methods (BT/OR PIA, mole plough, directional drilling, hard dig trench etc). Produce detailed Low Level Designs and Bill OF Materials for internal and external build teams. Produce cabinet area network plans which align with both network and design principles to include, core network requirements, optical budgets, cabinet locations within build phase budgets (CPPP). Liaise with internal, external teams and other third parties as part of your role. Conduct detailed non intrusive (Over Head) surveys of existing infrastructure. Deliver planning support to set targets, including premises passed, contractual milestones and CPPP. Produce designs that are within the project budget and highlight the required cable sizes, node locations and types, installation methods, and labelling according to our design principles. Produce clear and accurate Straight Line Diagrams (SLD’s) for all fibre designs. Producing and maintain accurate splice matrixes for all of your designs. Deliver accurate build plans through the use of, QGIS, Vetro and Vitruvi. Respond to design change requests during build whilst updating relevant information. Accepting as-built information from the field and updating network maps and provision statuses of all the project UPRNs Running project reports at various stages of planning to give early indication of required materials and labour to allow for accurate stock and labour forecasting. Due to the use of unique build methods, a network planner must be able to problem solve on the spot and make the relevant changes to the plan swiftly and accurately. The ability to think outside the box. Requirements University degree or equivalent in Surveying, Geography, Geology or similar. Detailed knowledge of XGSPON and point to point fibre network architecture. Experience of using CAD or GIS software. Any experience of Telecoms FTTP (Fibre to the Premise) Planning and Design. Ability to multi-task and prioritise across a range of processes, dealing with rapidly evolving priorities effectively with multiple build projects at different stages of planning and construction. Quick to pick up new systems and processes. Full UK driving licence is a must. Reside or be prepared to relocate within the network area (Dorset, Somerset, Wiltshire and Hampshire).
