Description
We have a new opportunity for a Technology Decommissioning Manager to join us.
Reporting into the Senior IT Portfolio Manager, you’ll be responsible for the oversight and governance of our application decommissioning service covering the whole of the AXA UK IT estate. You’ll track, guide and support lifecycle projects and transformation programmes as they upgrade or migrate to target state architectures and then need to decommission applications, databases and infrastructure following a prescribed and consistent set of processes.
If you’ve worked in an architecture role or have a technology background, with a good understanding of project management, we’d love to hear from you.
At AXA we work smart, empowering our people to balance their time between home and the office in a way that works best for them, their team and our customers. You'll work at least 40% of your week away from home, moving to the majority of your working week from September 2025. Away from home means either attendance at one of our office locations, visiting clients or attending industry events.
What you’ll be doing:
1. Maintaining visibility of projects and programmes that will simplify our technology application estate by decommissioning legacy technologies
2. Guiding programme and project managers through a prescribed end to end technology decommission process
3. Identifying opportunities to decommission technologies faster
4. Proactively managing pre application retirement reviews including sourcing and compiling key technology data artefacts
5. Creating MI for business stakeholders to track progress towards our simplification/decommissioning targets
6. Predicting and removing roadblocks that prevent us from meeting our goals
7. Acting as a trusted advisor to navigate internal processes designed to serve and protect the interests of AXA-UK such as through data protection standards and change control
8. Taking ownership of the decommissioning reference framework and associated policies, procedures and controls
What you’ll bring:
1. Prior experience as a junior architect or application support and maintenance specialist
2. Strong knowledge of application architecture patterns
3. Good understanding of project management
4. Strong negotiation and stakeholder management skills
5. Good technical and systems knowledge
As a precondition of employment for this role, you must be eligible and authorised to work in the United Kingdom.
What we offer:
At AXA UK, we’re appreciative of the people who work for us and our rewards package is reviewed regularly to reflect that. You can expect to receive:
1. Competitive annual salary dependent on experience
2. Annual company & performance-based bonus
3. Contributory pension scheme (up to 12% employer contributions)
