We are looking for a creative and enthusiastic Speech and Language Therapy Assistant with very good communication skills to join our Children's Speech and Language Therapy service within Gloucestershire Health and Care Foundation Trust.
The role will provide support to the Speech and Language Therapy team in the delivery of a wide range of assessment and intervention packages for children with communication difficulties and their families. Intervention will primarily be for children in community clinics and early years settings on a 1:1 basis or in a group.
The role will include supporting our digital triage platform for new referrals. There will be a requirement to create and prepare therapy resources and support with administrative tasks.
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate strong IT skills with good knowledge of Microsoft Word, Teams and PowerPoint packages. The post would suit someone with excellent organisational skills, a flexible approach and an enthusiasm to learn new skills.
The Speech and Language Therapy Service covers the whole county of Gloucestershire and offers regular support through whole team meetings and individual and group supervision sessions.
Main duties of the job
* To contribute to information gathering and assessment process through observation and joint evaluation of a child's response to speech and language intervention
* To participate in training of setting staff, parents and other professionals as required.
* To deliver therapy treatment programmes as designed by the therapists without direct supervision, but with appropriate instruction and monitoring.
* To record personally generated clinical observations and provide feedback to the supervising Speech and Language Therapist.
* To prepare therapy materials and bespoke IT generated communication resources to meet speech and language targets identified by the Speech and Language Therapist.
* To undertake as directed administrative tasks, e.g. scanning, photocopying, filing, registration of patients, co-ordinating appointments and arranging clinic appointments
* To liaise closely with the Speech and Language Therapy Assistants team

We provide a Multi-professional preceptorship programme that is aligned to the National Preceptorship Framework for Nursing and have been awarded the Interim quality mark from NHS England. Our programme is provided to all Newly Qualified; Nurses, Nursing Associates, Internationally Educated Practitioners, Allied Health Professionals and Return to Practice Practitioners. In addition to the programme we also offer all preceptees the opportunity of enrolling and completing the level 7 (Masters) 15 credit validated module Preceptorship for Healthcare (AP7026).
Newly qualified Social Workers are offered the Assessed and Supported Year in Employment programme (ASYE) which is similar to a preceptorship programme.
