Salary Recruitment Range: $53,629.00 – $79,876.30
Salary Grade: SW07
This position currently qualifies for a hybrid telework option with routine office and remote workdays. The NC Department of Insurance trusts our employees to be self-motivated and successful in hybrid/remote roles. Telework options are subject to change at the discretion of management.

Primary Purpose of the Position:
Criminal Investigators conduct investigations of criminal activity reported by private citizens, other governmental entities, law enforcement, and industry. They routinely work with industry Special Investigative Units (SIU), the National Insurance Crime Bureau (NICB), and other regulatory divisions. Responsibilities include providing technical assistance and resources to law enforcement in the area of insurance fraud, conducting interviews, analyzing records, and writing reports. They must present case findings to prosecutorial authorities and testify before juries. This role may also involve mentoring other investigators and assisting in case management.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
* Working knowledge of laws pertaining to insurance fraud and embezzlement.
* Knowledge of investigation methods and procedures used in criminal offenses.
* Familiarity with the insurance and bail bonding industries.
* Ability to mentor and provide technical guidance to junior investigators.
* Experience in managing case assignments and operational reports.
* Leadership capabilities to assume roles within the team as needed.
