Job Title: Commercial Manager - Electrical Connections and Utilities Location: Kilmarnock Employment Type: Permanent Salary: £40-45K Job Description Glenelly Infrastructure solutions have an exciting opportunity for a Commercial Manager -SPEN Framework to join our Power & Civils Distribution business based in Scotland. Glenelly Infrastructure Solutions has been awarded the framework for the with maintenance and modernisation of existing underground LV network and new services for SPEN. While this particular framework will run approximately 5 years, we expect to be awarded more of these frameworks in the near- and long-term future. Key Responsibilities Commercial Management: Develop and implement commercial strategies to ensure project profitability and risk mitigation. Prepare, negotiate, and manage contracts with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers, ensuring compliance with legal and company requirements. Monitor and manage budgets, cash flow, and financial forecasting for projects. Conduct regular financial performance reviews and provide reports to senior management. Contractual Compliance: Ensure adherence to contractual obligations and provide guidance on contract interpretation and disputes. Negotiate variations, extensions, and claims in line with project and company requirements. Manage all commercial documentation, including payment applications, valuations, and change management records. Stakeholder Collaboration: Act as the primary commercial point of contact for clients, ensuring strong and positive relationships. Liaise with project managers, engineers, and operational teams to align commercial objectives with project delivery. Lead commercial discussions with stakeholders, presenting clear and concise information. Risk Management: Identify, assess, and mitigate commercial and financial risks associated with projects. Ensure that project risks are communicated effectively and incorporated into project planning. Team Leadership: Mentor and manage junior commercial staff, providing training and development opportunities. Foster a collaborative working environment, promoting best practices in commercial management. Key Requirements Essential: Proven experience as a Commercial Manager within the electrical connections, utilities, or related construction/engineering sectors. Strong knowledge of contract law, including NEC, JCT, or FIDIC contracts. Demonstrable expertise in budgeting, cost management, and financial reporting. Experience in managing multi-million-pound projects or portfolios. Strong negotiation and problem-solving skills with a commercial mindset. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and financial management software. Desirable: Professional qualifications such as MRICS, MCIPS, or a degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or a related field. Experience in renewable energy, smart grids, or infrastructure projects. Familiarity with utility regulatory frameworks and compliance requirements.
