Job summary
You will be responsible with other members of the Infection, Prevention & Control team in preventing and controlling infection primarily in an acute hospital setting, but also impacting on the wider healthcare community.
This includes investigating, monitoring and raising awareness in the prevention, surveillance, investigation, management and control and control of healthcare associated infections.
Responsible for providing day-to-day management of the nursing & administrative staff in the IP&C team. To deputise for the assistant director as required.
As a member of the Infection Control Team you will maintain effective and efficient communication networks with internal and external agencies. Interacting with both clinical and non-clinical disciplines and other organisations responsible for healthcare provision.
Main duties of the job
1. Provide clinical and managerial leadership and support to all nursing and clerical staff
2. Act as a resource for support and guidance of own staff and at trust level, as required
3. Work closely with own team, to promote good working relationships with all members of the multi-disciplinary IP&C team
4. Manage staff performance and development through a process of appraisal, which should include a cycle of constructive performance review and the establishment of a relevant personal development plan
5. Monitor and manage staff sickness and absence
6. Facilitate a system of clinical supervision
7. Ensure all staff have had the relevant training and statutory updating regarding mandatory training, COSHH, Health and Safety, Infection Control Policy, Resuscitation, Moving and Handling, Fire Lecture and Occupational Health
8. Identify performance issues and initiate action in accordance with the Trust's Human Resources Procedures

9. Registered with relevant professional organisation, either Nursing & Midwifery Council (NMC) or Health & Care Professional Council (HCPC)
10. Evidence of postgraduate study to Masters level or professional knowledge acquired through specialist training and experience

12. Management or leadership qualification or equivalent experience

15. Experience in policy development, utilising relevant research & documentation to implement standards of care
